Jason Helopoulos tells of a day in Dallas, Texas when he and his wife were walking around the city with her new camera. He noticed a clock on the tall bell tower of a large church. The little hand pointed to the number 4 and the large hand was positioned just past the 12. On the clock face were two words in large black letters: Night Cometh. They were taken from John 9:4 where Jesus told His disciples, “I must work the works of him who sent while, while it is day; the night cometh, when no man can work.”
Night, for each of us, represents death, the point where our opportunity to serve God and His kingdom ends. We must make the most of our time while we can for the sake of the many who are lost and without Christ. Ephesians 5:15-16: “Look carefully then how you walk (behave), not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
