Jesus was kindhearted, but He was not nice.

When you read the gospels, you see He was not nice when it came to sin and hypocrisy; especially the Saducees and the Pharisees even though He had a perfect love for them. For every person Jesus interacted with, He had a perfect love for them; it could not be improved upon. That love often came out as condemnation and when it didn’t, it came out as a soft merciful compassion that called them to repentance.

The most unloving thing you can say to someone is ”God loves you the way you are.” That’s wrong. What’s right is saying, “God loves you despite the way you are. God loves the saint he intends for you to be. He loves you where you are, yes, but he does not intend to celebrate the lost, carnal, pagan, God-hating, Jesus-ignoring, Spirit-grieving, vile, selfish sinner you are before He saves you.
